SMD BOX MSD supports all IPC/JEDEC-defined MSD levels (Level 1 through Level 6). The system automatically identifies MSD level information by scanning component labels and sets the corresponding Floor Life time window based on the level. For Level 2a through Level 5a components, the system strictly enforces J-STD-033D exposure time limits with automatic alerts and retrieval lockout when exceeded.
How is the Floor Life countdown tracked?
SMD BOX MSD automatically starts the Floor Life countdown the instant a component leaves the cabinet, recording the exact moment it exits the dry environment. During production use, the system continuously accumulates exposure time. When the component is returned to the MSD cabinet, the countdown pauses and the drying environment begins restoring the component’s condition. The SMF platform logs the complete exposure history of every component, with full export support for audits.
What is the difference between the MSD cabinet and a standard dry cabinet?
Standard dry cabinets only provide a low-humidity storage environment without component-level tracking capability. The two serve different needs: SMD BOX MSD is a fully automatic solution with automated storage, automated drying, and automated tracking — ideal for production lines with a high proportion of MSD components and large volumes. NEO LIGHT MBB is a semi-automatic solution using MBB vacuum packaging with light-guided manual handling — suitable for lines with fewer MSD components or budget constraints.
