What is the difference between Mobile and PTL?
Mobile and PTL share the same Pick-to-Light LED guidance technology. The key difference is deployment: PTL is a fixed installation (1,400-reel capacity for centralized storage), while Mobile has lockable casters (240-reel capacity for line-side use). Mobile can be flexibly repositioned to different line stations, ideal for multi-line material sharing and flexible production layouts. If you need large-capacity centralized storage, choose PTL.
Is 240 reels enough?
Mobile is designed as a line-side buffer, not centralized storage. The 240-reel capacity covers 1-2 shifts of material turnover for a single line. Combined with SMF platform work-order-based kitting, actual efficiency far exceeds what the capacity number alone suggests. If you need larger centralized storage, choose PTL (1,400 reels) or the fully automated SMD BOX.
Does Mobile work over WiFi?
Yes, fully supported. Mobile comes with WiFi wireless connectivity as standard — move it to any WiFi-covered area and it connects immediately, no extra wiring needed. It also supports LAN wired connection if used at a fixed location. WiFi and LAN can be switched flexibly to suit different deployment scenarios.
How are multiple Mobile units managed together?
Multiple Mobile units are managed through the unified SMF smart material control platform. SMF provides cross-rack material search, real-time inventory sync, and automatic work order distribution. Operators can check the inventory status of all racks from any single Mobile unit. The platform also supports RESTful API and SQL direct connection to SAP, Oracle, and other ERP/MES systems for automated cross-line material scheduling.
What if I need automatic sensor detection?
If you need sensors that automatically detect reel placement and removal (no manual scanning), while keeping the caster mobility, choose NEO LIGHT Mobile Plus. Mobile Plus adds position sensors on top of Mobile, automatically tracking every reel movement and syncing inventory data. If you do not need mobility but want sensors, choose the fixed NEO LIGHT Plus.
