Why can’t stencils be stored on standard reel racks?
SMT stencils are large and thin (typically a metal frame with stainless steel mesh). Horizontal stacking causes bending and warping, which compromises solder paste printing accuracy. Traditional reel racks with horizontal shelves are also dimensionally incompatible with stencil proportions. NEO LIGHT Stencil uses vertical slot design where each stencil stands upright in its own dedicated slot, with no contact between adjacent stencils, fundamentally preventing bending and deformation.
What stencil sizes does Stencil support?
NEO LIGHT Stencil supports multiple standard SMT stencil frame sizes. The vertical slots are optimized to accommodate mainstream stencil frame specifications on the market. To confirm whether your specific stencil dimensions are compatible, please contact our technical consultants for a sizing review.
Is there a full-auto stencil storage solution?
Not currently. The physical form factor of stencils (large thin panels with metal frames) is incompatible with the internal structure of SMD BOX automated storage systems, making automated insert/retrieve impossible. NEO LIGHT Stencil is the only smart stencil storage solution available, which is a unique advantage of the NEO LIGHT product line. With sensor plus LED guidance, stencil retrieval times are reduced to seconds, approaching a full-auto experience.
How are stencil usage counts and cleaning records tracked?
The SMF smart material control platform creates a complete lifecycle record for each stencil, automatically logging usage count, cleaning timestamps, and tension test results. When a stencil reaches its maximum usage count or exceeds its cleaning cycle interval, the system automatically issues a maintenance alert, preventing expired stencils from reaching the printing line and affecting quality. All data can be synced to ERP/MES systems via API.
Can stencils and reels be managed together?
Yes. NEO LIGHT Stencil handles stencils exclusively, while reels can be stored using NEO LIGHT PTL or NEO LIGHT Plus for semi-auto management, or SMD BOX for full-auto management. All devices are unified through the SMF platform, enabling stencils and reels to be managed within a single system for integrated material control.
