WMS
WMS, or Warehouse Management System, is like the all-in-one software package for running a warehouse. It’s got everything you need to keep track of inventory levels, handle orders, and manage the flow of goods in and out of the warehouse.
WES
Smart Material Flow software suite, a sort of WES (Warehouse Execution System) software, can automate various aspects of material handling, including receiving, sorting, storage, and retrieval. Here are some examples of how WES can be used to automate these tasks:
- Receiving:
- SMF can be integrated with barcode scanners, RFID readers, or other automated data collection devices to track the receipt of materials in the warehouse automatically.
- Sorting: WES can use advanced algorithms and sensor technology to sort materials based on various criteria such as size, weight, or SKU (stock-keeping unit) number.
- Storage: WES can use automated material handling equipment to store materials in the appropriate locations within the warehouse automatically.
- Retrieval: WES can use sensor technology and automated material handling equipment to automatically retrieve materials from storage and deliver them to the appropriate locations on the shop floor, according to the job list.
- Goods return: WES can use sensor technology and automated material handling equipment to automatically handle the process of returning goods to their original location or supplier.
- Counting: WES can use sensor technology and automated data collection devices to automatically count the number of materials in the warehouse, updating the material information in the system.
- Reorder: WES can use real-time inventory level data to automatically trigger materials reordering when stock runs low.
